What is the Solar Victoria Rebate?

Great incentive for homeowners and small businesses in Victoria to install solar and save on energy bills.

The Solar Homes Program, run by Solar Victoria, offers financial incentives to help Victorians install solar panels, batteries, and hot water systems. It’s part of the state government’s push to reduce emissions and make energy more affordable.

Current Rebates Available (2025)

1 Solar Panel (PV) Rebate

• Amount: Up to $1,400 (plus an interest-free loan of up to $1,400)
• Eligibility:
  • Must be owner-occupier of the property
  • Combined household taxable income of less than $210,000
  • Property valued under $3 million
  • No existing solar PV system (with some exceptions)
  • Must use a Solar Victoria-approved retailer and installer

2 Solar Battery Rebate

• Amount: Up to $2,950

• Eligibility :
  • Same financial/property criteria as above
  • Must already have solar PV installed
  • Must be in an eligible postcode (battery rebates are postcode-targeted)
  • No previous battery rebate claimed

Interest-Free Loan Options

For solar PV, you can also apply for a matching interest-free loan of the same value as the rebate (up to $1,400), payable over 4 years.
